TSMC To Move To 7nm In 2018

Although TSMC secured many 10nm contracts from top companies and is already making products on their new 10nm FinFET process, due to increased competition from Samsung, the company decided to accelerate their 7nm plans.
At first, the company won't utilise EUV technology. The main reason behind that is due to the low production rate of EUV machinery, but once the EUV technology improves and becomes more available, TSMC will make a switch. As for the first 7nm products, expect to see them in 2018.
On the other hand, TSMC's rival Samsung has disclosed that its first-generation 7nm process will use EUV and is slated for launch in 2018.
