Roku Sales Banned In Mexico Due To Use By Pirates

The use of Roku devices for piracy offenses has led to all device sales being banned in Mexico. Cablevision, a cable provider, requested in a legal case that all Roku devices no longer be sold in the country since hackers can utilize the technology to access pirated content.
Roku fought back against that request, but it lost. A court order is now in place to suspend Roku product sales.
Cablevisión cannot allow the content that it licenses from domestic and foreign companies to be illegally used. We would also like Roku Inc to better supervise the use of its software so that it's not used inappropriately.- Cablevision
Although the streaming of pirated content is disallowed by Roku's policies, the case claims hackers have used channels to give people access to pirated content anyways.
