Tesla Model 3 units will begin leaving Tesla's production facilities on Friday and the first set of vehicles will be delivered to customers on July 28, CEO Elon Musk revealed on Twitter. Now that the Model 3 has passed all the necessary regulatory requirements, Tesla can boost its production.

Musk says the company intends to produce 20,000 Model 3 vehicles per month by December. Though it'll only make around 1,500 by September.

Because it's a much less expensive electric vehicle (base price of $35,000), it's expected to become a major source of revenue for Tesla. It'll make up a large portion of the 500,000 vehicles Tesla hopes to produce in 2018.
