Waymo Is Now Testing Autonomous Trucks

Alphabet's Waymo is expanding its autonomous vehicle tests to include trucks and the company hopes its technology will help prevent "thousands of trucking-related deaths each year." Waymo is only testing one vehicle right now and it's manually driving it on public roads for data collection.

One of the company's competitors, Uber, is also working on autonomous trucks. Uber purchased Otto, a self-driving truck company, last year.
