More than 1 million Nintendo Switch units have sold in the Japanese market in just 17 weeks. This kind of adoption pace indicates consumers in Japan really like the product. For comparison, it took Sony 49 weeks to reach a million sales with the PlayStation 4.
Other consoles have historically reached the sales milestone even faster, however. The Game Boy Advance took 3 weeks and the Wii only took 6 weeks. And the Switch's sales rate is also slower than the 3DS'.
Though the gaming system was released in the market in Japan, sales remain steady.
