A Dutch team won the SpaceX Hyperloop competition and their plan for the system is being pursued by Hardt Global Mobility, a startup in the region. With Hardt's efforts, one of the first active Hyperloop tracks could run from Amsterdam to Paris by 2021.
If the system is running around its max theoretical speed of 1,126 km/h, the trip would only take about 30 minutes. A current fast train takes over 3 hours and a flight takes an hour.
Hardt is working with other companies in the transportation and construction industries. It has support from the Technical University of Delft, railway company Nederlandse Spoorwegen, and construction company BAM.
The company already has an operational testing center and it's beginning to test some of the Hyperloop's core technologies.
