To better compete against hotels, Airbnb is launching a premium tier that'll be targeted at wealthier and typically older travelers. Bloomberg reports the new tier is intended to reach users who typically prefer hotels due to their amenities. All of the listings in the section will be inspected by Airbnb itself.
A name for this tier hasn't been created, though it's being referred to as "Select." Among the requirements for each listing are new and matching bedding, bottled water, tea, coffee, and other typical hotel amenities.
This section of the app will be the first time certain listings are placed in their own category. Select is expected to launch next week, with a full rollout this year.
