Three Chinese Companies Capture Quarter Of Global Smartphone Market

Nearly a quarter of global smartphone sales during the first quarter of 2017 came from just three Chinese companies: Huawei, Oppo, and Vivo. Together, they took 24% of the market, according to Gartner's data.
The quarter saw 380 million total unit sales, meaning the Chinese trio was responsible for around 91.2 million.
Gartner says those companies have been positively affected by a shift in the market towards moderately higher phone prices. That's enabled them to increase revenue by selling more premium devices.
Samsung, the world's largest handset company, saw its share fall to 20.7% (-3.1%). And Apple dropped from 14.8% to 13.7%.
