Samsung Defends Iris Scanner After CCC Bypasses Its Security

Chaos Computer Club (CCC) recently revealed it had successfully hacked the iris scanner featured on Samsung's Galaxy S8 and S8 Plus. Not long after that hack was revealed, Samsung issued an early statement to some media outlets.
According to Samsung, it still considers the iris scanner in its Galaxy devices to be secure. The technology went through "rigorous" testing during its development to ensure security and accuracy.
However, the hack from CCC suggests it might not be as secure as Samsung claims. A team from CCC were able to bypass the iris scanner's security using a picture taken with a digital camera. The picture could potentially be taken from a moderate distance without someone's knowledge.
Samsung says it'll investigate the hack.
