Google is bringing Project Sunroof beyond the US. The tool, which helps people find out how viable solar panels are for their home, is launching in Germany. It was first introduced as a US-only tool in 2015. In March, it reached all 50 states.
The initiative uses data from Google Maps and Google Earth to figure out a home's sun exposure. 3D models and machine learning are also employed to determine whether a house's particular location/position is good.
Project Sunroof is already covering around 7 million homes in Germany.
