Amazon Investing $5M To Have Playwrights Write Stories For Audible

Around a dozen playwrights are going to receive a combined $5 million from Amazon to create stories intended for the Audible platform. The company hasn't detailed how playwrights can apply, but it appears interested in offering more original content.
This investment will build upon Amazon's library of original content, which includes original shows on Prime Video. Audible itself already has its own "Originals" section.
To figure out who it should invest in, Amazon is relying on a panel of industry veterans to look through grant submissions, according to The New York Times.
