Amazon Adjusts eBook Deals After EU Investigation

An investigation by the EU has pushed Amazon to change its deals with eBook publishers. Under newly created terms, Amazon is no longer forcing publishers to offer the best price on the Kindle store. The company had been preventing publishers from offering cheaper prices anywhere else.
By taking that part out of the contract, publishers have more options and alternative eBook sources have a better chance of competing.
Now that the new terms have been established, publishers can begin renegotiating their contracts with Amazon.
Because it has made this change to its practices, Amazon will avoid any fine from the EU.
