YouTube Wants Users To Translate Video Descriptions

YouTube is expanding its Community Contributions feature to let viewers contribute translated descriptions to videos. YouTube has let people contribute subtitle translations since 2015 and this move could make videos easier to find in a variety of languages.
The expansion covers video descriptions and titles.
YouTube's community covers 76 different languages and most of the content on the site is segregated into just one. If community-sourced translations for titles and descriptions work, the reach of at least some videos could increase, especially when paired with translated subtitles.
Creators must turn on the Community Contributions tool.
