Twitter Replies No Longer Count Usernames Against Character Limit

Twitter had adjusted its character limit again so that replies can be longer. Usernames in replies are no longer going to count against the limit, thereby increasing the amount of unique text that's allowed.
The social network has been testing this new way of functioning for months and a lot of users had complained that the redesigned reply system was confusing.
When a tweet mentions more than one person, viewers will just see the first name followed by "and X others." They'll need to click if they want to see the full list, which can make it harder to follow conversations.
