GM is planning to put another 300 self-driving Chevy Bolts on the road, reports IEEE Spectrum. GM and Cruise, its autonomous vehicle division, will be rolling out the new fleet additions as early as next month.
The company already has a relatively large self-driving car test fleet. It has 50 autonomous Bolts on the road, compared to the 80 vehicles being operated by Alphabet's Waymo.
With more cars on the road, GM will be able to collect more data that'll be useful in its development of autonomous vehicle technology. It'll also let the company obtain data on a wider array of driving situations.
Two new radar systems are reportedly going to be used in the next version of the Bolt.
