Facebook is improving its internal tools to track down more fake accounts and fake likes. Over the past six months, the network has been fighting a like spamming operation, which it has finally shut down. That operation generated thousands of fake likes on various pages.
Those likes were part of a plan to legitimize fake accounts that could friend actual users. Just by getting rid of this particular issue, Facebook says up to 3% of likes could disappear from some pages.
Facebook is working on other ways to identify and crack down on fake accounts.
