52% Of Businesses Continue To Use Windows XP

Windows XP lost support from Microsoft in 2014, yet 52% of businesses are still using the operating system three years later. Spiceworks' 2017 OS Adoption Trends survey found at least one instance of XP is running within over half of businesses.
The survey also found at least one instance of Windows Vista in 9% of cases. Windows Vista is going to lose support on April 11, which will give companies a good reason to fully abandon it.
Although some IT departments aren't able to upgrade on time due to a lack of time or budget, it's critical for IT professionals to make a business case for more resources, given the security risks of running operating systems with unpatched vulnerabilities,- Peter Tsai, senior technology analyst, Spiceworks
When examining the market share among businesses in terms of how many machines are running each OS, the numbers shift. Windows 7 comes out on top with 69%, while Windows XP is running on just 14% of machines, and Windows 10 is on 9%.
