Apple is updating its AppleCare+ policy so that iPhone owners can sign up for extended service for up to a year. Some customers have reportedly begun noticing their devices are eligible for AppleCare+. Sign ups were previously limited to 60 days, with Macs being the only devices that could be registered for a year.
Earlier this year, Apple revealed it was planning to greatly increase revenue from warranty services. Extending the period in which people can sign up for a warranty service is one way to increase revenue.
AppleCare+ offers coverage for hardware issues and accidental damage.
