Google is working to make sure all Android phones receive faster security updates this year. It is already cooperating with smartphone makers to improve the roll out times for updates, ensuring people have adequate security protections.
Its own Pixel and Nexus phones will often receive important patches months before other devices. Last year, about half of the 1.4 billion Android devices in the world didn't receive updates.
Google says it's been improving its practices and has reduced the wait time from 6-9 weeks to only a matter of days.
