GameStop Closing 150 Stores This Year

Following disappointing holiday season sales, GameStop is going to close upwards of 150 stores this year. It has revealed it'll close around 2-3% of locations around the world. GameStop operates over 7,500 stores globally.
During the fourth quarter of 2016, the retailer reported software sales were down 19.3% and new hardware sales were down 29.1%.
GameStop blamed its performance on "aggressive console promotions by other retailers" and "weak sales of certain AAA titles." It has likely been affected in a significant way by a rise in game downloads.
