Facebook has begun trying out a GIF button for comments and it'll function similarly to the equivalent feature found in Messenger. Users will begin gaining access to the feature next week, enabling them to post animated images from Giphy and others.
Everyone loves a good GIF and we know that people want to be able to use them in comments. So we're about to start testing the ability to add GIFs to comments and we'll share more when we can, but for now we repeat that this is just a test.- Facebook
You'll be able to search for specific GIFs as well as browse trending ones.
Facebook has been hesitant to support them due to the way animated images could impact the look of the News Feed.
