There are some titles for the Nintendo Switch that'll only work when the game is undocked, reports Kotaku. One of the Japanese launch titles, known as Voez, always requires a touchscreen. Presumably there will be other games that also fail to work on an external display.
Voez is also available for iOS and Android. It's a touch-sensitive game and therefore can't function without a tablet-like setup.
This could be a fairly common situation in cases where developers want to bring mobile-style games to the system. Those games often won't work in a regular console setting.
