YouTube's total daily watch time is over one billion hours, according to an announcement from the company on its blog. The billion hours of view time each day is split across many millions of viewers all across the world.
It announced the milestone on Monday, though it says it was actually reached in 2016.
This focus on watch time has shown up elsewhere within YouTube. The site is now paying more attention to the amount of time someone watches a video rather than the mere number of views a video gets.
"A few years" ago YouTube decided to focus on that metric to figure out if a viewer "really enjoyed" a piece of content.
