Oppo's mysterious new camera technology has made its official debut at MWC 2017. The company has announced a new technology called 5x Dual Camera Zoom, which utilizes a unique periscope-style setup. The technology is not yet implemented on a new phone, but it won't take long before Oppo launches a new phone with it.
The technology has over 50 individual parts, stacked in a module with a total height of 5.7mm. Oppo is able to achieve a lossless 5x zoom along with picture stabilization enabled. The camera tech was reportedly co-developed with camera technology vendor Corephotonics, and development took about a year.
