Nintendo has reported a drop in sales and profit with its latest financial report covering the last quarter. It reported revenue of $2.7 billion, which is down 27% from the same period in 2015. Operating income was down from $373 million to $231 million.
Some aspects of the report were positive. The company recorded "blockbuster" Pokemon Sun and Moon sales at 14.6 million units. There was also a rise in Nintendo 3DS hardware sales at 6.4 million units, representing a 10% year-on-year increase.
Game sales for the 3DS were up 20% at 46.7 million units.
Sales of the Wii U didn't meet expectations and were down 75%, but Nintendo did expect a major decline. It hoped to ship 800,000 and ended up reporting 760,000 units.
