Nextbit Acquired By Razer, Robin Phone Sales End

Razer has acquired Nextbit, a startup known for its cloud-centric Robin smartphone. The Robin received over $1.3 million on Kickstarter and was marketed as a handset that would "never run out of storage" due to its cloud utilization.
Now Razer is going to be (somewhat) in charge of the company and it'll provide the resources necessary for Nextbit to create new products. Nextbit's statement on the deal says it'll operate as an "independent division."
Nextbit will operate as an independent division inside Razer, focused on unique mobile design and experiences. To put it simply, we'll be doing exactly what we've been doing all along, only bigger and better.- Nextbit
All sales of the Robin and its accessories have ended. Nextbit will keep fulfilling warranties for another six months, meaning some consumers will see their warranties cut short. Software updates will continue through February 2018.
This acquisition suggests we could see a smartphone from Razer, a company known for its gaming peripherals and laptops.
