Founder Of Namco Dies At 91

The founder of Namco, Masaya Nakamura, has died at the age of 91. His company became one of the most important video game publishers in the world and one of the largest in Japan. Namco revealed he passed away on January 22.
Nakamura initially formed Nakamura Manufacturing in 1955. It was focused on making amusement rides for children. Eventually it became Nakamura Amusement Machine Manufacturing Company (Namco). The company entered the video game business and was responsible for popular arcade games like Pac-Man.
When Namco merged with Bandai in 2005, forming Bandai Namco, Nakamura remained involved as chairman and supreme adviser of the entertainment division.
