Amazon Drones Could Drop Off Packages With Parachutes

Amazon is exploring various ways for drones to be incorporated into the delivery side of its business and one way is to have them drop off packages mid-air using parachutes. One of the company's recently granted patents covers the use of landing systems like parachutes, compressed air, and landing flaps.
Each time a Prime Air drone heads out to a buyer, the drone would evaluate the landing location and figure out which elevation is best for dropping the package. The drone would pay attention to the package's descent.
If things aren't going smoothly (e.g. due to wind), the drone could tell the package to use one of the landing guidance systems.
