Ad-Blocking Software Use Increased 30% Globally In 2016

Ad-blockers are on the rise around the globe. PageFair has released a report stating 11% of global internet users used ad-blockers to block at least some forms of digital advertising last year. That's about 600 million devices.
PageFair says the use of ad-blockers around the world was up 30% annually. Companies are losing tens of billions of dollars per year due to the use of ad-blockers.
Certain countries have really adopted the tools. Around 66% of internet users in Indonesia, for example, are using ad-blockers.
There's been a massive surge of mobile ad-blockers in these countries that no one anticipated. In the West, I expect the same trend to blindside us in the very near future.- Sean Blanchfield, CEO, PageFair
