It took Xiaomi just 10 minutes to sell a quarter of a million Redmi Note 4 smartphones in India. The phone became available through Flipkart and Xiaomi's website on Monday, leading to what it says was the "biggest smartphone sale in the history" of India.
Xiaomi expected the phone to do well in the market. During the Redmi Note 4's introduction, outgoing executive Hugo Barra noted Xiaomi sold 3.6 million Redmi Note 3 units in India last year.
Demand for the handset is expected to remain steady in the country, helping Xiaomi to move towards a dominant position in India.
