Uber Will Pay $20M In Response To FTC Complaint That It Misled Drivers About Pay

To settle a case from the Federal Trade Commission (FTC), Uber will spend $20 million. The FTC's complaint against the company claims it misled drivers about their potential pay as a user of the service. Uber didn't admit any wrongdoing as a part of the settlement.
Uber's settlement payment will be distributed to affected drivers.
The FTC pointed to cases where Uber allegedly misled drivers in 20 cities. It made claims suggesting people could make up to $90,000 per year in New York City and $74,000 in San Francisco, for example.
Uber has also agreed to provide semi-regular compliance reports to the FTC.
