Samsung Reveals Results Of Galaxy Note 7 Investigation

After months of waiting, Samsung has finally revealed results of its investigation of the Galaxy Note 7 fiasco. The phablet was recalled twice and cancelled after, and according to the company, both variants had battery problems. The first variant was using batteries supplied by Samsung SDI, a sister company, while the second had ATL batteries.
A total of 700 engineers and researchers conducted tests on more than 20,000 fully-assembled Galaxy Note 7s and more than 300,000 batteries, and here are the results.
The problem with first variant had issues with the internal structure, which comprises layers of positive and negative electrodes. Due to the phone's design, the battery was squashed in the upper right corner, causing electrodes to crimp and come into contact, leading to thermal runaway and short circuiting.
The problem with the second variant is that some cells were missing insulation tape, and some batteries had sharp protrusions inside the cell. The batteries also had thin separators in general. The result of the investigation is simple, in both cases the batteries were the main culprit.
Due to these issues, Samsung has changed its testing approach, which now includes eight-point inspection process.
