PC Shipments Fell Again During Holiday Season

PC shipments were down yet again during the fourth quarter of 2016, report IDC and Gartner. Both research firms recorded a year-over-year decline in shipments. IDC lists the drop as 1.5% while Gartner is reporting a steeper 3.7% decline. Either way, it's continuing a trend that's existed for the past five years.
The firms disagree about the future of PC sales. While IDC thinks the decline could soon end, Gartner believes shipments will continue to fall as other devices take over.
Acer, Asus, and some other companies saw a year-over-year decline in their market share. At the same time, Lenovo, Apple, HP, and Dell boosted their respective shares.
