The fastest a Tesla Model S can currently go is around 2.4 seconds, but modified vehicles can push that even further. A modified Model S built for the Electric GT Championship reached a 0-100 kmh (0-60 mph) speed of 2.1 seconds, beating out any production vehicle.
Electric GT confirmed the speed. The primary change that enabled the faster acceleration was a reduction in the Model S' weight of 500 kilograms. Its motor was also pushed to 778 horsepower, racing tires were added, and the brakes/suspension were upgraded.
The Electric GT Championship is scheduled to take place this year. Every competitor will be using a Model S.
