Fitbit Attempted To Purchase Jawbone In 2016

At the same time as Fitbit and Jawbone were engaged in legal disputes, Fitbit reportedly tried to buy its competitor in 2016. Financial Times reports the wearable company attempted to acquire Jawbone for a "tiny fraction" of its $1.5 billion valuation.
Fitbit would have neutralized one of its competitors and gained access to intellectual property, but the deal was denied. Jawbone is reportedly going to receive funding shortly that'll enable it to remain in the market.
The report fits with Fitbit's recent activity. It acquired Pebble late last year and it picked up Vector a few days ago.
