Facebook Updates Messaging Interface, Replaces It With Messenger

Facebook's messaging interface on the web has received a makeover that puts the feature in-line with Messenger. Users have reported the replacement for Facebook's traditional inbox design in the US, Europe, and New Zealand.
The Messenger icon is replacing the old inbox icon. Clicking it takes you to a full-size web version of Messenger that's substantially different from the old system.
Your chats are displayed on the left and some new customization options are found on the right. You can alter a conversation's color, nicknames, emojis, and control notifications. There are also options for making voice and video calls.
Facebook's Messenger head David Marcus has already responded to complaints from users requesting to switch back. His statement suggests changes will be made to further improve Messenger on the web.
We basically want to satisfy the ask of harmonizing the user experience and the capabilities of Messenger across all platforms.- Marcus
