It looks like there is some major problem with the latest Android 7.0 Nougat updates. Over the last few weeks, several companies stopped rolling out the Nougat updates without specifying the exact problem. The latest company to do that is ASUS, which stopped rolling out the update for ZenFone 3 series.
Except that the update is "on hold," ASUS didn't reveal why there is need for this. The company is already working on a new version that will solve the issues, and re-release the Nougat update soon. All you can do is to activate the auto update option and wait.
