Airbus To Test Autonomous Single-Passenger Air Taxi This Year

Airbus is working on urban air transport systems and it hopes to test one of its prototype units by the end of this year. The company's Project Vahana team has been working on an autonomous single-passenger airborne taxi that features a vertical take-off and landing (VTOL) system.
Tom Enders, Airbus' CEO, says they're taking the project "very seriously." He believes urban air transport of this sort could help alleviate congestion as it'd provide an alternative way to move people and goods.
A prototype is expected to be tested this year and Airbus plans to have a production version ready for short trips by 2021.
