Faulty metrics caused by Twitter's Android app have led to the social network offering refunds to advertisers. Video ad metrics were inflated up to 35%, which had an impact on payments from advertisers and the ability for companies to know how effective Twitter is.
Refunds have been issued to marketers for campaigns that ran between November 7 and December 12. Twitter says the entire problem can be traced to a bug in the Android app.
We recently discovered a technical error due to a Twitter product update to Android clients that affected some video ad campaigns from November 7 to December 12. Once we discovered the issue, we resolved it and communicated the impact to affected partners. Given this was a technical error, not a policy or definition issue, we are confident it has been resolved.- Twitter
