Tom Wheeler Stepping Down As FCC Chairman Next Month

Tom Wheeler, an advocate of net neutrality, will no longer be chairman of the FCC once Donald Trump takes office. He says he'll leave the agency on January 20, a move that'll precede the appointment of a new chair who is expected to take a different stance on issues like net neutrality.
Jeffrey Eisenach and Mark Jamison, two economists, currently sit on Trump's FCC transition team. One could become the new chairman of the regulatory agency. Republican FCC commissioner Ajit Pai will likely be the interim chairman and he could even take over the agency.
Sitting in this chair has been the great privilege of my professional career. I want to thank all of my colleagues. It has been a team effort.- Wheeler
Regardless of who becomes chairman, the FCC will become a majority republican agency.
