7-Eleven Delivering Items By Drone In US, Beats Amazon

Amazon and Google may have major plans to deliver packages via drone, but 7-Eleven has managed to become the first company to publicly test drone deliveries in the US. It's working with Flirtey, a drone maker, to test a delivery system at a single location in Nevada.
Whereas Amazon's recent drone delivery test in the UK was in the countryside, 7-Eleven is operating in Reno, an urban location. 77 customers have received items through this service. The first delivery from 7-Eleven occurred in July and involved a chicken sandwich, donuts, candy, Slurpees, and coffee.
Deliveries have so far taken an average of 10 minutes to arrive after an order is placed. The drones fly autonomously, but they're within the line of sight of a drone pilot due to the US' regulations.
