The adoption of electric vehicles is quickly increasing in the United States, where an estimated 542,000 vehicles have now been sold. ChargePoint, a charger operator, says there were 130,000 plug-in hybrid or fully electric vehicles sold between November 2015 and November 2016. That's up from only 73,000 sales in 2012.
Around 535,000 EVs are on the road in the US and Canada.
California remains the biggest adopter of EVs in the country, although Utah has seen a 60% increase in EV registrations.
Tesla's Model S has been the most-sold vehicle since January of this year. The Chevy Volt came in second.
