A new feature is being added to Google WiFi that lets users monitor connectivity on devices they have at home. “Starting today, we’re rolling out a new feature to Google Wifi that lets you measure how each individual device is performing on your Wi-Fi network,” Google wrote in a blog post.
The feature will basically help you troubleshoot for devices that may be affected by poor WiFi coverage in your home.
The feature will basically help you troubleshoot for devices that may be affected by poor WiFi coverage in your home. That’s a common problem for people who use a lot of smart devices in their homes, including smart speakers, televisions, lights and even other appliances.
With this, you can run a speed test on all your devices and move devices closer to the router if you see slower speeds on them. Being a mesh WiFi network, you can also move the router closer to the devices that are suffering.
According to Google, there is an average of 18 connected devices on each Google WiFi network that’s operational. "With so many devices on your network, we want to make sure you have a way to know each device has the best connection possible, and that your home Wi-Fi is doing its job," Alex King, the tech major's Product manager wrote.
The feature will be rolling out to users in the coming weeks and will be accessible through the WiFi app that the company provides.
