Google shipped more Home speakers than Echo in Q1 2018

As the smart speaker wars heat up, Google has for the first time beaten Amazon. According to reports, the Google Home outsold the Amazon Echo devices for the first time, in the first quarter of 2018. Google reportedly sold 3.1 million Home speakers, while Amazon sold 2.5 million Echo devices.
The Homepod caters to the audio market more effectively than the “smart” market.
That said, Amazon has been beating Google in this game ever since the wars began, so the company is likely still ahead. Apple is also in the game, but Amazon remains the market leader right now.
According to reports, 4.1 million speakers were sold in the US alone in the first quarter of 2018.
However, Amazon and Google are selling their speakers in more countries than Apple. They also have more affordable speakers and a wider range. The Homepod caters to the audio market more effectively than the “smart” market, whereas, Amazon and Google’s speakers are designed to be voice-first, focusing on the internet of things elements.
According to reports, 4.1 million speakers were sold in the US alone in the first quarter of 2018. The country is buying the most number of smart speakers in the world right now, but China and South Korea are adopting them too, with 1.8 million and 730,000 units shipped, respectively.
