OnePlus ties up with Marvel for Avengers themed OnePlus 6

OnePlus today announced a partnership between itself and Marvel, for an Avengers-themed version of the OnePlus 6. It seems this version will be exclusive to the company’s Indian market, just like the Star Wars edition OnePlus 5T last year. It’s unclear when this version will be announced, but it should be a limited edition product sold alongside the OnePlus 6 only.

“OnePlus’ association with Marvel Studios is a manifestation of the enduring love and support they have garnered from its respective community over the years with a purpose to go beyond the ordinary and achieve groundbreaking innovations in mobile technology only to create the best user experiences,” the company said in a statement.

In its statement, OnePlus says that the move is “strengthening” its association with Disney India, which means other markets will likely not get the device. Although the company hasn't revealed any formal details about the Avengers-themed OnePlus 6, it is expected to come with the standard Avengers branding and may have some preloaded content specifically for Infinity War fans.

However, it’s also not unusual for the Shenzhen-based Chinese smartphone maker to launch specific versions of its smartphone in specific markets, though it never changes the specifications. So one could conclude that the Avengers-themed OnePlus 6 model will in all likelihood be identical to its original model and will be powered by the top-of-the-line Qualcomm Snapdragon 845.

The OnePlus 6 is expected to launch in the first week of May right now, though official dates are yet to be confirmed.
