Amazon is apparently working on its first robot for households, says a report by Bloomberg. The publication says that the project is internally called the “Vesta”, after the Roman goddess of the hearth. It seems the robot is part of Amazon’s hardware R&D center projects, under its Lab126 section. This is where the Fire Phone, Kindle and Echo devices were built earlier.
It’s unclear what exactly the robot will do, but as Bloomberg suggests, it could be a mobile version of Alexa. Essentially, the robot could have Alexa built into it and be able to follow you around in the home. It seems Amazon will be looking to unveil and start selling the robot from 2019 onwards, though there’s no official confirmation on the same.

We obviously don’t know yet, but it’s possible that Amazon is trying to build a robot butler for your home. It’s possible that the robot will perform various chores in your home. Perhaps Alexa-enabled smart fridges, lights etc. will have special functions to go with the robot. Either way, we don’t know a lot about the device just yet, so we’ll have to wait for the company to actually unveil the robot. What you can be sure of, is that it’ll be yet another smart device that connects to your Wi-Fi.
