MWC 2018: ASUS unveils new Zenfone 5 series

Taiwanese smartphone maker ASUS unveiled three devices in the new ZenFone 5 series at the ongoing 2018 Mobile World Congress (MWC) in Barcelona, Spain. 
The company’s ZenFone 5Z and ZenFone 5 are the first ever ZenFone models to harness the power of artificial intelligence (AI), featuring all-screen displays with a 90% screen-to-body ratio. The new line-up includes ZenFone 5 Lite as well. 
The ZenFone 5Q unveiled at MWC as the ZenFone 5 Lite, (branded as the Zenfone 5Q in the U.S.) is a 6-inch device featuring a premium true four-camera system, with a high-resolution camera and a 120-degree wide-angle dual-camera system that adapt and learn, the company claimed. 
The smartphone is powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 636 mobile platform with Qualcomm Artificial Intelligence Engine (AIE) and features up to 8GB RAM and 256GB onboard storage. Further, the device includes NFC, triple-slot SIM/microSD card holder, rapid face unlock and fingerprint recognition — for a complete smartphone experience.
Both ZenFone 5Z and ZenFone 5 are equipped with Sony IMX363 sensor, a f/1.8 wide-aperture lens,120-degree wide-angle secondary camera, four-axis optical image stabilization (OIS) and AI-enhanced camera features, including AI "Scene Detection" for 16 different scenes and objects.
"We embarked on the ZenFone project four years ago with the idea to create empowering luxury for everyone to enjoy," Jerry Shen, CEO, ASUS, said in a statement. 
The Taipei-headquartered phone maker is expected to release the Zenfone Lite in March while the Zenfone 5 is expected to be shipped in April, followed by the Zenfone 5Z in June.
