Good news for Instagram users. The app has rolled out two new features – hashtag and profile links in the bio. So what this means is that for now onwards, the app will now allow adding live hashtag and profile links to their Instagram bio.
To recall, in December last year, the app had introduced the ability to follow hashtags, giving users new ways to stay connected with the interests, hobbies, passions and so on. But now with hashtag and profile links in your bio, users can express themselves and their interests right in their profile. Whether you’re a #guitarlover, into #pencilsketching or have a #makeuptutorial account, avid Instagram users can now link to any hashtag or profile they want, Instagram said in a blog post.
So if you want to add a hashtag or profile link in your bio, just tap on Edit Profile and go to the bio section. When you type a # or @, you will see a list of recommended hashtags and accounts in the typeahead. Once you select the hashtags and accounts you want, they will automatically be linked to your bio.
Meanwhile, according to TechCrunch, Instagram is aiming to add voice and video calling features in the future. The website found hidden icons for “call” and “video call” in the Android Application Packages (APKs) of the standalone direct messaging app. Similarly, WABetaInf spotted icons related to video calling in the app as well, indicating the feature could be possibly be rolled out soon.
