Elon Musk has removed the Facebook pages for both Tesla and SpaceX. Musk was challenged to do so by some of his followers on Twitter during a tweetstorm. Both Tesla and SpaceX had approximately 2.6 million followers and are currently inactive.

The conversation started when Musk replied to a tweet from Brian Acton, the co-founder of WhatsApp, the instant messaging app now owned by Facebook. Acton’s tweet simply said, “It’s time, #deletefacebook.” To this, Musk replied “What’s Facebook” and a Twitter user replied to him asking him to delete the two companies’ Facebook pages.
Musk apparently wasn’t aware that his companies had Facebook pages, but said he would delete them. When another user showed him screenshots of Tesla’s Facebook page, Musk said it was the first time he’d ever seen them. According to Musk, it “looks lame anyway”, and now the pages are gone.
Losing the two pages accents the week Facebook has had so far, with the Cambridge Analytica debacle boiling over. The social network’s CEO, Mark Zuckerberg, recently said he would be willing to testify in front of Congress and promised to audit apps on the platform, to avoid misuse of information.
