SpaceX Doubles Annual Launch Record

SpaceX's successful launch on Monday brought the company's 2017 launch figure to 16, doubling its prior annual record of eight missions. Its launches have increased and decreased in frequency throughout the year, leading to an average of 1.5 missions per month.
2017 hasn't just seen a significant increase in the number of Falcon 9-based launches, it's also seen a shift in who the company is working with. For a long time it primarily operated to fulfill US government contracts, but 11 of its 16 launches this year have been for private companies or foreign governments.
